Dylan's Journal

Introduction to My Mind

· 294 words · 2 minutes to read

This was written almost a year ago and was the intended first post to this journal.

It is a strange day that I sit here and write my first entry; something I had wanted to do for the past couple years but just had not found the time. But today is a strange day, it is the first time in a year that I have finished work and had nothing else to do.

Over the last couple years, I have gone from working at a computer forensics startup, to a studying Japanese in Japan, to running several teams at video game publisher, and then recently landed myself back in the startup world running a large portion of product development. To add on to all of this, I started my Master of Business Administration (MBA) over a year ago now.

In there, of course, is the core of what makes today so strange. No, I have not finished my MBA, but I have wrapped up early one of the hardest classes yet with a few days before the next class is scheduled to begin. This leaves me in an interesting state with nothing to do – well that is not completely true. I could start my next class early or put more hours into my day job. This leaves me a little nostalgic though looking back at myself when I had just finished my Bachelor of Computer Science and started my first full time job and how I was amazed at how much time people had when they only had a single 9 to 5.

So then, the plan for this. It will mostly be my thoughts in my style of writing. Generally, poorly structured, unplanned, and written as things unfold in my own mind.
